Ambassador Majeed urges international community to take notice of India’s atrocities in IoK

Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Dr Asad Majeed Khan
Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Dr Asad Majeed Khan has urged the international community to take strict notice of India’s ongoing atrocities in occupied Kashmir.

Addressing an event in the state of Virginia on Saturday, Ambassador Majeed said the Narendra Modi-led government had held nine million Kashmiris hostage with its ongoing clampdown in the occupied valley, and called on the world to break its silence on the grave situation.

The ambassador demanded that the world institutions send analysts and observers to the occupied valley and force India to withdraw its decision to end special status of occupied Kashmir.

India’s actions in occupied Kashmir posed a threat to regional peace and stability, he noted, adding that it was not clear how the situation would unfold in the coming days.

Ambassador Majeed pointed out that US President Donald Trump had offered as many as three times to play a role in mediating on the Kashmir crisis.

Indian forces continued their lockdown of occupied Kashmir for the 21st day on Sunday, after India withdrew Article 370 of its constitution that gave a special status to the disputed territory.

Indian authorities continued to impose strict curfew and other restrictions across the valley, preventing Kashmiris from holding demonstrations against the occupation and end of special status for Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Kashmir Media Service, people are faced with acute shortage of essential commodities including baby food and life-saving medicines due to the persisting blockade that is resulting in a humanitarian crisis in the occupied valley.

The Indian prime minister was conferred the award at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi during his first visit to the UAE capital after winning the recent elections.

Indian forces meanwhile continued their lockdown of occupied Kashmir for the 21st day on Sunday, after India withdrew Article 370 of its constitution that gave a special status to the disputed territory.

Islamabad High Court orders disciplinary proceedings against judge Arshad Malik
The Islamabad High Court on Thursday ordered disciplinary proceedings against accountability court judge Arshad Malik for violating the code of conduct.

The court order against Accountability Court II Judge Malik stated, “The disclosures and admissions made by Mr Muhammad Arshad Malik, District & Sessions Judge/Former Judge, Accountability Court-II, Islamabad in his press release dated 07.07.2019 and the affidavit dated 11.07.2019, prima facie, constitute acts of misconduct and violation of the code of conduct, which warrant initiation of disciplinary proceedings against him.

Spider-Man to leave Marvel Universe after Disney and Sony split

Marvel's superhero films could lose their most famous character after Sony confirmed Tuesday that talks over its deal to share Spider-Man with the Disney-owned studio have broken down.

The Marvel movies have together grossed $22 billion at the global box office, and British actor Tom Holland's Spider-Man has become an increasingly central figure in the most lucrative franchise in film history.

But while the teen web-slinger has for decades been the crown jewel of the Marvel comic book empire on which the films are based, Sony owns the character's movie rights.

He only began appearing in Disney-owned Marvel's "cinematic universe" after the Hollywood giants stuck an almost-unprecedented, and still highly secretive, 2015 deal to co-produce and split profits across the films.

A key aspect of that partnership has now broken down. Sony confirmed that Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige widely credited with the phenomenal boom in comic book movies of the past decade  will no longer produce Spider-Man films, with a spokesman adding the studio was "disappointed."

Sony spokesman said in a statement that we hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him do not allow time for him to work on IP (intellectual property) they do not own.

The separation makes it "almost certain" that the character Spider-Man will be absent from crossover appearances in future Marvel films. According to Deadline, which broke the news, Disney had wanted to significantly increase its financial stake in new Spider-Man movies, while Sony refused to alter existing terms.
